The online School Administration Post-Master’s Licensure program is only open to eligible Indiana residents. This is a blended online learning program using a combination of interactive online sessions augmented by on-campus sessions typically held on Saturdays three (3) times each semester.

Benefit from a Program Designed for Working Adults
The Department of Educational Leadership offers the School Administration Licensure program for individuals who already hold master’s degrees in education and now want to obtain licensure as a secondary and elementary principal.
The School Administration Licensure program is designed to serve public and private sector working professionals for school leadership positions in either setting. Case studies, simulations, practitioners, class dialogues and discussions, lectures, research, and participation are used throughout the program to foster an interactive learning experience during class sessions.
Our program is a nationally recognized internship experience by the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) and features an ISLLC and Indiana Professional Standards-guided curriculum. As a result, our graduates achieve among the highest scores on the School Leader Licensing Assessment (SLLA) exam among administration preparation programs in Indiana.
Coursework can be completed in two semesters with full-time study. The average program duration is three semesters (which could include summer attendance). Students have the option of part-time study. In some cases, previous master's degree coursework may be substituted for select courses in the program.

Indiana Licensure Information
Completion of the School Administration Licensure program fulfills, in part, the requirements for the Building-Level Administration License prescribed by the Division of Professional Standards, Indiana Department of Education. To qualify for the Building-Level Administration License, the student must complete the program, hold an Indiana teaching license, present evidence of at least two years of teaching experience, and pass the state licensure examination.
This program prepares students for licensure or certification in the State of Indiana.

What You’ll Learn in the Online School Administration Program
Coursework provides practical and theoretical knowledge of leadership, effective administrative practices, school law, community and parent relations, work as a principal, school improvement, supervision, curriculum, instruction, assessment, and teacher evaluation. The program includes a practicum for students in the principal internship experience.
Career Possibilities for School Administration Graduates
Our School Administration program opens a variety of career opportunities in the field of education, particularly in K-12 schools, including positions as school principals and assistant principals.
The job outlook is stable, and salaries are excellent. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment of elementary, middle, and high school principals to show little or no change from 2022 to 2032.
In addition, the coursework and leadership skills obtained in the program are preparation for other career opportunities, including district-level administrative positions overseeing multiple schools, setting policies, and making decisions at the district level. Other career options include positions in educational leadership, coaching, educational consulting, and school improvement.

The online School Administration Post-Master’s Non-Degree Licensure program is only open to eligible Indiana residents.
The program supports a rolling curriculum, allowing students to begin the program in any semester or during the summer session.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for admission.Admission Requirements
Applicant must hold a baccalaureate degree with a major in an appropriate area from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Applicant must also hold a master’s degree in an appropriate area from a regionally accredited institution.
Applicant should have earned a minimum GPA of 3.25 in all graduate coursework attempted.
Applicant must hold or be eligible for an Indiana teaching license and must have a minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience.

- A letter of recommendation from the applicant's school principal or other person able to comment on the applicant's potential as a school administrator.
The Graduate Record Examination is not required for admission.

Submit a nonrefundable application fee of $45.00 (U.S. citizens and permanent residents) or $65.00 (international students) payable by Visa, MasterCard, or check or money order payable to Indiana State University.
